Croatia the unexplored Europe

I've been traveling internationally since 1993, and although all the trips have bee n great and I' ve loved them all...I have to say that this one was "totally awesome", What a well thought of itinerary ! It allowed for so many varied activites and experiences. The countries visited were so interesting to say nothing of beautiful. What a coastline!! Lasty our tour guide Tamara, was sooooooo good..... well informed, accommodating, pleasant, a real asset. Everyone was so pleased with her, never was anything negative said either about the tour or her. She get's an A plus. The only negative item was the 30 min. Stop at Mejugorje....no where near enough time to even exit the bus walk 5 mins to the church, etc. Less time in Mostar would take care of this issue. This was the only disappointing event of the trip.

Worth Exploring - Croatia and Slovenia

When my husband and I told people we would be taking a tour of Croatia and Slovenia, some gave us a blank look or asked why we wanted to go there. My response was always simply, "Why not?" My husband had few expectations about the trip, but I had high ones after viewing the intinerary and reading reviews of this tour and the extension. The tour offered five of my "Bucket List" destinations, Dubrovnik, Mostar, Plitvice, Ljubljana & Bled. I am happy to say that my expectations were exceeded in every way. We can't stop talking - and smiling - about our trip. We have always had excellent tour guides with Go Ahead, and Tamara was no exception. If she could have been given a higher rating than 5-stars, we would give her every star available. She is truly an asset to the company, a talented, charming and most knowledgable guide. Bravo, Go Ahead, for sharing Tamara with us for two weeks! We have seen and learned so much about the countries in the, both in the natural beauty and in the struggles and suffering over the years. We gained insight into what happened during "the last war" and were impressed with how far the countries have come in less than 20 years and with the resilience of the inhabitants. Also, we were pleasantly surprised at how fluent the Croatians and Slovenians are in English. No nervousness about being on our own during any free time, as there were no language barriers with the very pleasant shopkeepers or residents. Plus, we felt very safe walking around in each city and town we visited. The hotels were all pleasant surprises, a mixture of 3-, 4- and 5-stars. We enjoyed the 3-star hotels every bit as much as the others. Nothing was really outside of walking distance to the old towns. The food was amazing everywhere, including in our hotels. And the local wines in both countries were outstanding. The day at Plitvice National Park was a full one, and very rewarding too - such an amazing place! My husband and I were happy that we signed up for all the optional excursions. Mostar was especially lovely, as was Montenegro. And the three-day extension, with so much beauty offered by Lake Bled and Triglav National Park, truly was breathtaking! Superlatives all around, Tamara and Go Ahead Tours, for such a quality tour.

Wonderful tour of Croatia and Slovenia

Tour covered highlights of Croatia (Dubrovnik, Split, & Plitvice Lakes & Zagreb) that we wanted to see, and with add on's of Kotor in Montenegro and Mostar in Herzegovina, plus ending in Ljubljana Slovenia, it's the complete package. The best part was staying two nights in each stopover town so we wern't rushed 'out the door' early each day. Although we came to see Dubrovnik. Split & Plitvice lakes, our favorite town was Ljubljana in Slovenia. Our tour guide was outgoing, vastly knowledgable, sensitive to everyone's issues, and surprised us with some special stops and outings.

Croatia & Slovenia

The itinerary, tour guide and hotels were excellent. We had a great time. If Go Ahead would include a list of names and cities for tour participants prior to departure that would be a real asset. We could refer to it on the trip and it would help to learn the names of others in our group.

Enter the previously forbidden

This tour was an amazing opportunity to tour previous communist countries which were then a war zone! Such natural scenery and such recent history! Like walking a textbook- Yugoslavia! Much more than historic ruins and famous sites! This is recent newsroom meets untouched beauty!

Excellent Choice

Everything about this tour was fantastic - the weather, the food, the cities, and the people. We were very fortunate to have Tamara as our tour director. She was a wonderful combination of professional and entertaining all while taking care of everyone's needs. The history was fascinating and presented in easy to understand monologues. This is a beautiful area of the world that anyone would enjoy.

Croatia to Slovenia: Unexplored Europe

This was a totally unexpected delight. I had no idea that the Balkin region was so beautiful, the people so welcoming, and the food so delicious. I would love to go back and spend more time in Ljubliana.

Wonderful travel experience - Croatia to Slovenia

I had no idea how beautiful the former Yugoslavia was and, at least, four of the six countries formed from it are. All our hotels were great, mostly 4 star, which was a treat. Our tour guide was terrific and full of stories about the history of the area. Special tour guides were excellent. Because of the recent war there, it is a very unusual experience. It is one of the most beautiful areas you'll ever see but with a sadness that is inescapable. I would recommend it to anyone interested in history and beauty.
