Wonderful Tour - Great Tour Guide

It was a wonderful tour and great to see the beauty of Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Slovenia. Our tour guide, Tamara, was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, professional, and very hospitable. I would certainly recommend this tour to others.

Great Trip

I'm constantly asked "Why Croatia?" I still can't answer that question. I was just drawn to the history of the Balkans. Tamara, our tour director, was incredible! She brought the history of Croatia to life. What a great trip! I was drawn to the strength and endurance of the people. They and their country is beautiful. Five stars ++++

A Renaissance Experience

This was truly a spectacular trip. It literally encompassed everything a traveler (as opposed to a tourist) could want: beautiful scenery (mountains, beaches, small islands in the Adriatic); landmarks from a Roman palace to a modern suspension bridge; and an opportunity to meet people who have endured Nazi occupation, Communist oppression, and a brutal civil war without losing their souls or their zest for life. Our guide, Tamara Stojanovic, was the ideal companion for such a journey since she had a personal perspective on so many cities and countries that we visited. The trip to Mostar was certainly a highlight; perhaps a trip to Sarajevo (which was the epicenter of the recent civil war) would be warranted. You need to take this journey.

From the Mediterranean to the Alps

This tour was fabulous! Our Tour Director, Tamara, led us through Croatia to Slovenia, giving us imformation about the history and culture of the region and people. The individual day guides in many cities added greatly to the experience, too. The food was wonderful and diverse and the pace of the tour was busy, but we had enough free time to relax and take in some sites on our own.

Interesting and educational

This is a fine tour and I'd recommend it to anyone. However, weather consideration should be taken on the city tours. I know that time is a factor on all tours, but when it is 100-110 degrees and extra couple of breaks could be built into the timing. A bathroom break on walking tours of over 1 1/2 hours would also be a big help. This is an extremely active tour and in this kind of weather, it is very challenging. The tour itself is well worth the time and expense, however. The coastal ride is definitely one of the most beautiful in Europe along with the Norwegian coast. I would go back today, as long as it were cooler. Plitvice Lakes National Park is as beautiful as any national park we have seen anywhere.

Must see destinations

These countries are as truly beautiful as we had been told by other travelers who had visited. Our guide, Tamara was one of the most outstanding guides that we have ever had.

Former Yugoslavia except Serbia

A good balance of historic/cultural and natural attractions throughout Croatia and Slovenia, with a little bit of Montenegro and Bosnia. Not challenging physically, but probably not ideal for the physically challenged. Excellent tour guide and drivers, well organized.

Croatia and Slovenia: Unexplored Europe

This was truly a new adventure for my group. We always heard that Croatia and Slovenia were a beautiful new places to explore. Our tour director, Tamara Stojanovic, was exceptional! We came to rely on her suggestions when we on our own in the cities and the best choices for dining. She was professional and made the trip fun and enjoyable everyday. The tour had two UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Kotor and Split) that were highlights. Lake Plitvice was breathtaking and a look at nature untouched and unforgettable. Mostar was a visit to the far past with the local guide leading us through the streets of life long ago. It was a wonderful experience I'll always remember. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Understanding the Balkans

This was my seventeenth trip with EF/Go Ahead (fifth with Go Ahead) as a group coordinator, and was indeed among the very best. Not only were the countries beautiful (Croatia and Slovenia, with optional excursions to Montenegro and Bosnina), but our tour director, Tamara, was a native of Sarajevo and shared her life experiences with us. She strove to give us an understanding of the history of the Balkan Peninsula, and the current political reality today. She inspired us with her optimism for the future in that part of the world. She was tops in all of the required organizational skills, but also had a most caring and kind personality with every person. The tour was well-paced and very comfortable, with mostly three nights in each area. I would have liked to have had more leisure time in Zadar, a beautiful stop one afternoon. Among the "undiscovered" spots on the tour, the Slovenian city Ljubliana was a gem: one of the most beautiful cities I have every seen. I will definitely tell everyone about this tour and all of the great sights and experiences.

Croatia to Slovenia

Our tour director, Tamara, was superb in every way. She kept us well informed and was able to explain from personal experience what is like to live in the area both now and during the war. I especially enjoyed the hike around the Plitvitce Lakes even though it was a challenge to walk on the log platforms. The waterfalls were spectacular. I also enjoyed the side trips to Montenegro and Mostar although the weather was exceptionally hot. I went in July and would recommend May or September if you are sensitive to heat. There is not enough space to list all the wonderful sights we enjoyed on this trip. I would recommend it most highly. The local guides were also excellent.
