Train ride to long - overrated.
1 day would have been more than enough - All the Mountains, streams, etc all started to look the same.
Wonderful Canadian Rockies!
What a wonderful trip I just experienced..The Canadian Rockies Tour was everything I had hoped for and much more. The scenery was awesome, the weather was warm and sunny,my group was like my family, and the tour director made it interesting and fun! It was just a wonderful!
Luck was with us
Seldom does a planned vacation occur where everything goes right. Our weather in the Rockies was 10 degrees above normal with some record highs. The skies were clear creating vivid colors and reflections in my photographs. The group was punctional and considerate, the hotels and meals were fine. the guide, David, and driver,Roland, provided the group with many opportunities to stop and enjoy the scenery. The bus was clean and comfortable. The Rocky Mountaineer train ride was as scenic a rail trip as I have ever experience. A great trip
Canadian Rockies
The scenery is magnificent. You cannot take a bad picture. The Canadian Money is easy to handle and the people are friendly and helpful. We had a small group of 15, and all got along well. We hit all the major spots and I took a few optional trips with some others; We rode a horse down a trail; took a raft trip, not too rugged; things I hadn't done in many years. The train ride was enjoyable but a bit too slow for my taste. It was a good mix of regimented sight seeing and time on your own, especially in Vancouver, where a few of us saw a wonderful production of Don Quihote. All in all a very good experience. I recommend it
best scenery ever
Great trip
Great pace on this trip - good amount of free time to enjoy things - mixed with good amount of group activities
Canadian Rockies Up Close & Uncomfortable
Of the five tours taken with GoAhead, this was our least favorite. Our hotel in Calgary was 5-star and went down hill from there. The hotel in Vancouver was decent, but not close to any attractions or restaurants and a good walking distance to the bus. Our Tour Director was good and we enjoyed travelling with her. Banff was beautiful and enjoyed the overlook. Went to the Fairmont Hotel on our own and had a delicous meal on the terrace. The scenery was lovely throughout the trip which was a given as to our location. In Calgary, we didn;t go to the tower for lunch as the excuse was we had to leave early to get on the road to Banff. Instead we were dropped off at the zoo. I believe our group (40's-80's) had been to zoos before and due to heat, uneven terrain for wheelchairs, it was a total bust. I don't think we made an early get away from Calgary. At one of the hotels, we were charged for wine that should have been gratis and were not reimbursed or anything. Our whitewater raft trip had very little whitewater and was very docile even a cave man could do it and probably did. We could have stayed in Jasper an extra night and still seen Lake Louise and other points of interest. As i said earlier the hotels were on the slide. The train ride to Vancouver has lovely, but we were in second class and did not have one hot meal for 2 days. One morning, we did have a lukewarm muffin. Kamloops was closed up tight when we arrived and almost impossible to find a postcard or restaurant without walking a good ways. Vancouver was a wonderful city, the tower was good sight seeing. Didn't get our meal in Chinatown or Oldtown The area betwenn Oldtown and Chinatown was very seedy and we were approached more than once by panhandlers as were others that we talked to later. The meals were okay, but nothing to rave about. On previous tours we had some rave reviews All in all GoAhead did not live up to thereputation as we had come to expect after 5 tours. We were very disappointed so I am not inclined to recommend this tour to any of our friends.
