Southern Attractions
Charleston and Savannah have such charm and history. From Rainbow row to Middleton place,to the Marketplace;each one has their own unique qualities.I found the architecture in both places just amazing.Tybee island and Jecckyll island in Georgia were both awesome and a contrast to one another.Jeckyll island was very charming and a place for the rich which the island portrayed.Tybee island extended for 3 miles along a very scenic beach and was rather rustic. The lighthouse encompassed a lot of history and the walk to the top was well worth it for the view. Both are a delight for those inspired by ocean views.
Southern Comfort
As I said in the survey we were given, there was too little time in Jekyll Island and St. Simon's Island. Either give more time or skip these destinations. You also changed the plantation tour; therefore, I''m glad I didn't pay for it.
good look at southern living and history
Our Southen States are full of hisory Today;s and Yesterdays. Tis trip helped melt them together. I' m a lady raised in the Western States So this trip ws LIKE a trip to 'another country" But I'm glad itis a part of what makes our whole county Great East West North and South. Any time I cdan take a Tour and feel and hear the history of people is always good fo me. It's what I travel for.
enjoy metting every one from others places.
we enjoy to all of the old house ,and the beach
Fantastic!!!
We had a great tour leader. She found a tour that wasn't included: It was the Low Country Tour out of Beaufort. The best tour and guide for that we have ever had. I hope that tour is added to the Charleston to Savannah tour as a regular addition.
charleston Savannah
worst trip ever. hotel in savannah not centrally located breakfast dreadful.no restaurant or bar.Jekyll Island farewell dinner awful,
Enjoyable time
Was very pleased with Juli the tour director, and Riley the bus driver. Tour was informative and enjoyable. Have travelled with Go Ahead beforek, and would travel with them again. FYI, my travelling companion had never been on a coach tour before, and really enjoyed it.
Charleston Savannah
Charleston and Savannah local guides were wonderful. Hotel service and facilities were above and beyond in seeing to our needs. Bus Driver was more than efficient and helpful. Even when we encountered bus trouble. He kept us going . Jekyll Island was a disappointment. Facilities were dated and less than safe for anyone with difficulty getting around. Beach was missing. hotel was poor to say the least. With the exception of Jekyll, the trip was wonderful and I have said so to friends. An area I would love to see more of. Thanks for asking. Patricia Hankins.
ARestful Trip for Winding Down
I was much in need of a brief vacation from work and a chance to evaluate how I would manage keeping up with "the crowd" and climbing on and off buses since I have become mildly disabled as I approach the ripe old age of 80. In addition, I had always wanted to see these two southern cities featured in many novels and reputed to be of great beauty. I had a very pleasant time and did indeed find out that I can manage a trip that is at Pace 2; therefore, I believe some of the European river trips might work out ok for me in the future. I had previously traveled to Japan with Go Ahead and expected and received very good services and careful attention from everyone. This is a good trip for folks who enjoy nostalgia, guides who are thoroughly versed in the historical facts surrounding the South and also have some juicy gossip and funny stories to tell, and leisurely horse-drawn rides through quiet, charming vistas. A harbor ride was a major highlight for me as I love to be on the water. While neither an amazing nor an exciting trip (try Egypt or Antarctica for that) this is truly restful eye candy with some nice shopping and eating thrown in for good measure. Try it. You'll like it!
Very Good Trip
I really enjoyed the trip. My only disappointment was at Jekyl Island. I really don't feel like I was there. We got there at 4 in the afternoon, wanted to walk on the beach and found a rock barrier. The motel was the pits, very old and needed to be torn down and replaced. We left at 9 the next morning and actually saw nothing. I think you should have 2 nights in Charleston, 2 nights in Savannah and two nights at Jekyl Island in a good hotel. The other hotels on the tour were top rated and it was easy to really see the cities. All in all the tour was good. I can't say enough good things about our driver. He was wonderful, thoughtful and just a delight to be with.
