The Low Countries
What I enjoyed most about this trip was our guide, Gerwin, who is a great combination of low-key calm and thoughtful attention. The cruises in Amsterdam and Bruges also were highlights for me as well as the tour-dinners. I do wish Go Ahead could secure hotels closer to the more charming parts of towns. And I did feel touristed out with Bruges. Visits to more offbeat places? But again, great guide and a nice time.
Amsterdam, Luxembourg, and Brussels
Oda is a great tour guide and took care of our individual needs and made sure our tour was enjoyable. The city guides had great stories of their cities and made us want to learn more about them. When traveling with Go Ahead you can count on good hotels and food. Looking forward to my next trip.
Benelux Countires at their Best
This tour was an excellent way to see and experience European countries which are not often the most frequented destinations, but it was a perfect blend of history, art, and culture. Hotels were great and traveling was made simple and relaxing through the efforts of our experienced and helpful director. Highly recommended.
A Jolly Good Time
This trip was fantastic! The participants were all very pleasant and our Tour Director, Oda, was wonderful. She was enthusiastic, organized, and very knowledgeable; all of these traits enabled us to relax and enjoy ourselves.
Fabulous Trip/ Perfect Guide and Bus Driver
Our guide was the best ever. Her name was Oda and she was the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic leader I have ever experienced. She turned our group into a family. The food was great and the sights stupendous. The hotels were really nice and located in great places. Take this trip. There is history, art, shopping, and unique experiences such as a flower auction. Go Ahead now!
Simply wonderful
On my recent tour of Amsterdam, Belgium, and Luxembourg - all of us on the bus had a wonderful time. Good times were shared by all. Our tour director, Oda (last name ?) was quite funny and uplifting as she led us around the country and our bus driver Michael (?) was quite the gentleman and new his way around and seemed to know all of the shortcuts. Though our emails were on a separate list in order to contact each other, we did not receive an email of our Tour Director and Bus Driver. May I have this information so that I can express to them how much I enjoyed only my second trip to Europe? Thanks for your assistance. Lynne Webb
Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Brussels
Horrible. This was my second tour with Go Ahead, and it will be my last. The main problem was that the tour group was too large (40+) for one tour director to handle. She would walk to a destination, and lose half of the group by turning a corner and not looking back. The tour director didn't seem aware of museum hours or directions. Something as basic as a regular closing on Mondays was a surprise. The bus had a slight accident, and the back door was out of commission. Another day the bus was broken into, but those things were out of the control of the tour. If those were the only negative things, it would be acceptable, but nothing seemed to go as planned. On our arrival in Amsterdam at 8 am, we waited in the airport for two hours for the rest of the arrivals. We took a bus to the hotel and were told that we couldn't have our rooms until 3 pm. Of course we were tired and jet lagged, but we were forced to sleep in the lobby of the hotel until 3. It was absolutely inappropriate for us to be sleeping in the lobby. That gave us a very poor start to a very poor trip. As a result, many guests were disgruntled and unhappy. The trip never "gelled" and we never got to know the other tourists on the trip. I couldn't wait to get home. It was a complete waste of money for me. I was very disappointed and would not recommend this company and tour experience to anyone else.
Great, except for Floriade and mini Holland
The title says it all. We know that it wasn't Go Ahead's fault, but the Floriade exhibition turned out to be a let down. The exhibits were unimpressive, and our time would be been better spent elsewhere as it is on this itinerary w/o the Floriade. On the Delft-Hague optional, the Aalsmeer flower auction was a hit. It was not Go Ahead's fault that a museum in Delft was closed, but more time in historic Delft or The Hague would have been a better substitute than mini-Holland, which is appropriate as a children's educational experience only. Our tour director Ziggy was unflaggingly upbeat even when problems arose. The FAST Thalys train to Paris for the extention was great -- a much better experience than flying would have been.
Amsterdam, Belgium, Luxembourg
good trip with good accommodations, good flight plan, great weather, good guide, good pace
Okay but should have been much better
This was the 6th tour my wife and I took with Go Ahead and the most disappointing. 1st night dinner in Amsterdam was awful--even Sigrid our tour director agreed. Also, after the dinner the bus was late coming to pick us up, it was cold and rainy so several of us took local transportation back to the hotel. Upon arrival at 7 a.m. at Amsterdam airport we had to wait nearly 4 hours there until the rest of our group arrived! (Last year upon arriving at DeGaulle airport in Paris about the same time our tour director, Lisa, put us and another couple in a taxi to the hotel while she waited there for others.) Disappointed that the Paris City tour was optional at cost, not part of the regular tour as it was last year (Paris, Provence and Riviera). Sigrid is a lovely person but seemed lost at times as tour guide, not knowing the areas well. Very upset that she didn't know when the Vermeer museum was open and took us instead that closed day to "Miniature World" Park. Great for children not for adults. Floriade was a great disappointment too, not at all what most of us expected. Did enjoy the venues we went to on our own. Hotels were mixed, one in Ultricht was great, others just okay.
