Passport & Visa

In order to enter France, U.S. and Canadian citizens need a valid passport. The expiration date must extend at least six months beyond the date of your return home. No visa is required for U.S. or Canadian citizens. If you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you must contact the French consulate for your specific entry requirements.

Baggage Allowance

Airlines have varying weight restrictions on luggage. Some airlines may impose additional charges if you choose to check any baggage; be advised that you are responsible for any such costs. Contact your airline for detailed information regarding luggage size and weight restrictions for your flight, but please note that Go Ahead travelers are restricted to one checked bag per person due to storage limitations on motor coaches and other internal transfers, which may include train connections or flights. One carry-on bag is also permitted, provided that it does not exceed 45 total inches (length + width + height). Make sure you label your baggage and carry valuables, medication and documents in your carry-on bag.

Clothing & Packing Tips

We recommend packing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that can be easily layered. For sightseeing, we suggest bringing a sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers, as well as a lightweight jacket or rainwear. If you’re planning a visit to a high-end restaurant or performance, you may also want to bring dressier attire. Also, please be respectful and avoid showing bare legs or shoulders when visiting churches or other religious sites (entrance may be denied on this basis).

Currency

The euro is the currency you will be using on your tour. Better rates of exchange are usually available in your destination countries, although it’s worth ordering some currency from your local bank to use when you first arrive. We advise that you take a combination of bank/ATM cards and credit cards, as needed. We suggest that you inform your bank and credit card company of your travel plans, so that they won’t confuse your international purchases for fraudulent charges.

Cuisine

For the most casual snack or picnic, stop at a small grocery store for cheeses, patés, cured meats, freshbaked bread and fruit. Sidewalk vendors are known for their steaming crepes, filled with cheese, ham, fruit or chocolate. Mouthwatering pastries and hot café au lait beckon from the cafés. On the restaurant scene, the prix fixe option is popular, offering a three- or four-course set menu for a good price.

Arrival & Transportation Information Round-trip flights arrive in and depart from Paris. After clearing customs and collecting your luggage, a shuttle service will provide your transfer to your hotel (details will be sent to you prior to your departure).

Tipping

At the conclusion of your tour, it’s customary to offer your Tour Director and driver a gratuity. We recommend tipping in your tour country’s currency, the equivalent of $3USD/CAD per person per day for your driver and $6USD/CAD to $9USD/CAD per person per day for your Tour Director. If applicable, we also recommend the equivalent of $2USD/CAD per local guide. Tips can only be paid in cash. Please keep current local currency exchange rates in mind when tipping.

Wonderful Guide

My husband and I went on tour for our wedding anniversary and this was the first time he had traveled internationally and he is willing to take another tour because he enjoyed this one so much. We had Brian as our guide and he was more than willing to give us advice on the Metro, what to see, items to bring back for souvenirs such as AMORA mustard from the supermarket and the jars are used as drinking glasses. Brian also offered a walking tour to Montmartre which was not included in itinerary. He's a great storyteller and his love for the city is contagious. The City Bus Tour was very helpful and the guide was educational and entertaining. The included meals were delicious and the restaurants had wonderful auras, especially Pharamond where we ate dinner before the River Cruise excursion. We participated in each of the excursions except Monet's Giverny. The Dinner and River Cruise was our favorite. Definitely will recommend this tour and looking forward to traveling with Go Ahead again.

Superior Tour Director!

Patrick's love of Paris is simply contagious. His upbeat attitude, boundless energy, willingness to go out of his way to ensure that everyone sees, does, gets what they need is beyond the rating of "excellent." I've run out of superlatives to describe how wonderful Patrick is and what a fabulous trip I had.

Paris était magnifique !

Oh la la! Merci, Patrick (our exceptional tour director), for sharing your infectious smile, knowledge and love for the city you call home -- it made my first trip to Paris definitely not my last. Our hotel was nestled in a neighborhood outside of City Centre, within walking distance to the Metro and, therefore, close to all the attractions. Paris is so much more than the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. I encourage you to explore some of the lesser known neighborhoods, each with their own character and pulse. Some of the most beautiful sights are overhead, so don’t forget to look up. While the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower is spectacular, a barefoot picnic in its shadow is magical. Kudos to the staff at goaheadtours for all their hard work. The Paris City Experience was a tasty little morsel that will leave you hungry for more. Bon appétit ! Dianna

Great Tour Director

Patrick was absolutely wonderful. Right off the bat, he gave us a Metro lesson which was immensely helpful. He gave us great suggestions for things to do and see during our free time and was always there when we needed him. Patrick's love of Paris was infectious and made the experience even more pleasurable. Hope to have him again on another tour! Joan, Texas

Paris is one place to see!

This is our third tour with Go Ahead. The first two were excellent, however this one did not earn an excellent mark from us. Brian, our tour director, however did an excellent job. He attended to everyone in our group inspite of the fact that there is one of him and 40 of us. Paris is a very popular city for tourists which makes all the places of interest very crowded at times. It was their National Heritage Week at the time we were there and there were no entrance fee for most Museum. There were so many people during our optional tour of Versailles, no elbow room at all and you were almost physically touching the person in front of you and you could feel that there is somebody so close in the back of you. A few times, our tour guide have to stop for awhile to make sure everyone in our group were still together. We were a bit rushed at times and honestly, I did not enjoy the tour. The Optional tour of the Louvre was almost the same way but not as bad as Versailles. My husband had to muscle his way to take a decent picture of the Mona Lisa and none in my group did not even attempt to take one. Since Paris is so popular and crowded with tourist, I think Go Ahead should cap the number of people in the group to 30 or less. I am aware that Go Ahead will be capping the number of people to 35 in a group next year, but I think they should make an exception for the Paris tours and limit it to 30 or less. As for the hotel, Crowne Plaza was excellent (but a few in our group did not have the same sentiment). Our room was good, the breakfast selection was very good and the hotel is well situated to the Metro station and there were so many restaurants, bistros, boulagerie and even a grocery store at a walking distance. Like I said, this is our third tour with Go Ahead and so far, we are still happy with all our tours with Go Ahead and would definitely recommend Go Ahead to our freinds and family.

Fantastic Paris Trip

I just returned from the Paris City Tour. Everything went perfectly from start to finish and I had a marvelous time. The hotel was very nice and within walking distance to places of interest and numerous cafes. The tour guide, Brian, was wonderful and so pleasant and helpful. The excursions were well planned and very enjoyable. When one of the airlines went on strike during our trip, the tour company rearranged flights for the people involved and did their best to accommodate everyone. I was so impressed with Go Ahead Tours that I will recommend this travel company to my friends and plan future vacations with them.

I love Paris in the Summer!

The city of Paris vividly reflects the history, art and life of this extraordinarily diverse and culturally rich city. Our tour director, Brian, provided a unique experience by sharing his expert knowledge, passion and love of Paris -- he is a truly gifted storyteller who transformed every moment into a meaningful insight and unforgettable trip! The mix of optional excursions to places like Versailles and Monet's Garden combined with the independent explorations and discoveries of the artistic charm of the cobblestoned streets in Montmatre, the poetic walks across the bridges of the Seine River, the grandeur of the Louvre, the wine-induced chatter echoing from the cafes and the trendy fashion shops of Paris sealed my love for Paris in the summer (and, every other season I may one day be lucky enough to enjoy in my return travels to this magical city)! Merci Beaucoup, Brian and Go Ahead Tours, for creating an experience filled with great education and fun!

First European Experience

This was my first trip overseas. I went with a group of family and friends including my thirteen year old daughter. We had a wonderful time in Paris. The weather didn't cooperate very well but we just tossed on raincoats and umbrellas and we made the best of the experience. Our tour director, Thierry, was phenomenal and very helpful in answering any questions we had. The hotel was great and close to the metro, shops, and many different restaurants. The excursions to Versailles and Giverny were wonderful and we saw everything we wanted to see. We did get to Disney in Paris during one of our free days. We enjoyed the mixture of planned excursions and unplanned time to just explore Paris on our own. We had a wonderful time and looking forward to another trip through Go Ahead.

Nice Tour.....BUT!

The hotel (Best Western) left much to be desired. While we are fully aware that hotel rooms in Europe tend to be small, this space barely provided area to turn around in without bumping into the wall,or, some other worn furniture item. The hotel was dirty, the rooms were not well maintained, breakfast(adequate) was the exact same for the five days on site, the small courtyard did not provide privacy for those both inside and outside of their rooms. In addition ,the hotel is not centrally located, and also not in a nice area of town.. The so called cruise was not on a dinner boat ,and, the first evening dinner was in an average neighborhood "pub". All in all we felt that the trip was poor value for the cost, and we,would have been happier with a greater "bottom line"which lived up to the tour information. Unfortunately, the experience will impact our decision to travel with this company again. On a positive note:We thoroughly enjoyed the members of our tour group! **We would recommend this tour with qualifications!!

Dear Carol, Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback on your recent tour to Paris. As we talked about today, it is very common for the hotel rooms in Europe to be small, especially in large cities. The other issues you have described with your hotel are absolutely not up to Go Ahead’s quality standards and will definitely be addressed. I’m glad your trip was a success overall, and I thank you again for sharing this information with us.
