I definitely did a little post-dinner exploring!  Definitely be sure to bring a map along, because it proved difficult to ask for directions!

Some of the nights are later than others, because one night we went to a Kabuki theater and the show didn't get out until around 10:00.  Other nights I walked around quite a bit.  Tokyo was the best place for exploring, because the subway was really easy to use and there are always a ton of different things going on!

Have been to Japan before, and my experience indicates that you can feel quite safe walking around alone. The incidence of personal assaults in Japan is one of the lowest in the world, and the people are friendly and helpful.
