I have to disagree with the last poster. I also went on this tour in November 2006 and I did take the extension to the Red Sea Resort, which had to be one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been. After such a fast paced tour through Egypt (which I agree with everyone else was absolutely fabulous) it was actually nice to be able to unwind for a bit on the beach and reflect on everything we had seen!
I thought the sightseeing excursion to St. Catherine's monastery was extremely interesting and informative. Imagine, going back in time and standing in front of the burning bush! We stopped along the way and were able to witness a bedoin community and its people. Our tour director also arranged for an excursion into the city center of Sharm el Sheik, which was vibrant and colorful. But even if he didn't it was only a $10 cab ride away. The last day we did the snorkeling excursion, which was absolutely fantastic. One of the best snorkeling experiences in my life.
To date, I've done 4 Go Ahead tours and overall this was my absolute favorite one from start to finish. The combination of history, food, people, culture and different cities was amazing. I went expecting to see Pyramids and desert but came away with so much more. Feel free to take a look at my photos here: http://lsarao.smugmug.com/Travel/256427
