Egypt & the Nile

Hi all,

Has anyone taken this tour?  When is the best time to go?

What was your favorite part of the tour? Any optional excursions that we should not miss!?

Thanks!

Re: Egypt & the Nile

My favorite part of the tour was the temple at Luxor! Egypt had so much more to offer than just the Pyramids, and I was definitely not expecting to see something mind-blowing every day.  Our guide was fantastic!

Egypt is Hot Hot Hot! So I would recommend going in the winter to avoid the heat.

Re: Egypt & the Nile

So many things about this tour are wonderful!  I couldn't get over how much there was to see, how close we were able to get to these temples and sites, and how much I learned.  Our guide was brilliant and I loved imagining myself in an Agatha Christie novel as we sailed down the Nile.

I agree that the Abu Simbel optional was one of the best days of tour.  The two temples are so impressive, and the way that they were relocated when the Aswan dam was put in just boggles the mind.

I traveled on the tour in late November, and the weather was really good.  It was still very hot in Luxor and Aswan, and even in Cairo the weather was in the 70s during the day.

Re: Egypt & the Nile

I was in Egypt in November, 2006.  Weather was great.

For anyone who is a history buff....do not miss this trip.  It was unbelieveable how much we saw and learned about ancient history.  Because so many of the sites were buried in sand until recent years, they are in mint condition.  Our guide was outstanding.   We were up and out early in the morning to see the sights before the heat of the day.  We also had many excursions after dark.

Take every option offered.  EXCEPT the trip extension to the Red Sea Resort.  My six friends and I were disappointed with the sightseeing.  The resort is beautiful....perfect in every way....if you want to sit around a resort.  We were miles from town and felt captive at the resort.

Happy to answer any further questions.  kdidier@suchmail.com
