Fall Foliage Exceeds Expectations

The fall foliage was brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed the mixture of fall colors, small towns, and travel across Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and down into Salem and Boston. I especially liked the overview of different areas-- the splendor of fall foliage followed by the covered bridge and lighthouse stop and down to the coast and the rolling ocean in Maine. After that, on to historical Salem and Boston. I loved sampling the regional cheese, beer, clam chowder, and lobster, being immersed in American history, and enjoying camaraderie with tour participants. We were on the last scheduled tour so we were past peak, but actually fortunate in that colors were outstanding and we didn't have all the other tourists crowding the area. This tour exceeded my expectations, gave a broad definition of New England, and allowed me to check some additional states off the bucket list!

Hi Linda! Admiring the fall foliage of New England is such a magical experience. We’re glad you enjoyed the various settings in which you found it. It’s also good to know that despite being a bit past peak season you were able to enjoy the colors sans the crowds. We’re happy you liked sampling regional cheeses and freshly caught lobster both in Salem and Boston. The American history is certainly rich in these two cities. It’s great to know that this tour exceeded your expectations and that it allowed you to check some additional states off your bucket list. Let us know when you’re ready to travel again!

This tour was so much more than expected. The tour guide was the best. Steven was so knowledgeable and went out of his way to make this trip so memorable. Our driver Sal was great. My sister and I have already booked our third tour with go ahead tours.

fall foliage fun

My husband and I had never been to New England, but we had always hoped to go to see the fall foliage. At last we got to go on this tour and it was all that we had hoped it would be. The leaves were beautiful and the pacing of the tour was pleasant. We never felt rushed and we were free to hike if we liked at various parks to see what was up the trail. When we were in towns and cities, we were given tours and suggestions about what to see, and those who wanted to shop had ample time to do that. I have used this company three times and each time has been a wonderful experience.

Dear Traveler, We’re glad to learn that this tour did not disappoint! The fall colors are truly breathtaking, and we’re glad you were able to enjoy them. We’re also pleased that you felt the pacing of the tour made for a leisurely experience. It sounds like your Tour Director’s insight and tips were helpful in discerning how to spend your free time and that you were able to see and do a lot outside of the core itinerary. Thank you for choosing Go Ahead. We hope to welcome you on another adventure soon!

Fall Folidge

Did not like being dumped off and told to shop for three hours, on three different cities that we visited. If I wanted to go shopping there are three malls within 4 miles of my home. Was disappointed there were not more tours offered at the different towns we visited. ie harbor tour in Portland, trolley tour of Salem etc. Over all scenery was breathtaking Our tour guide,Alan was most accommodating and knowledgeable. will go on other tours

Dear John, Thank you for reviewing your tour. We're glad to learn that you enjoyed the breathtaking scenery and foliage! We're also pleased that you found your Tour Director accommodating and knowledgeable. Regarding shopping, we typically build in some time for souvenirs in all of our itineraries. While we recognize that many travelers do wish to look for trip memorabilia, we understand that some don't, in which case you are free to use that time as you would like. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we're glad to hear you will travel with us in the future! We look forward to it.

Awesome Fall Colors

I had wanted to see the fall colors of New England for as long as I can remember. The fall colors of Vermont and New Hampshire were more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. After seeing many sunsets over the Pacific, my husband was excited to see the sunrise over the Atlantic in York, Maine. The Boston area is so full of history. I loved the entire trip! Our tour guide, Alan, was excellent.

Hi Vallerie! We’re thrilled that the beauty of the fall foliage surpassed your expectations! We’re also glad you enjoyed learning about the incredible history of Boston. We appreciate your feedback on your Tour Director, and we will be sure to share it with him. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We hope to welcome you and your husband on tour again!

Fabulous Fall Foliage!

It was more than the beautiful fall foliage that made this trip special. Our tour director, Alan had the best insight of the area and shared his expertise with all of us. Each town, excursion, hike and special highlights made the trip a real memory maker. Thank you Go-Ahead for a wonderful trip and thank you Alan for adding those special touches.

Kaleidoscope of colors

The Fall Foliage was beautiful and all the places we visited were amazing. The only thing was the trip was to short. Could have used a little more time in some of the places we visited. Beautiful foliage, lovely mountains, great train and the tour director and the people on the trip were great. Thanks again Go Ahead for such a wonderful time and trip.

Hi Luann! We’re thrilled that you enjoyed the colorful fall foliage of New England! We appreciate your suggestion to lengthen the itinerary, and we will be sure to share that with our Product Development team. Thank you for your great review, and we hope to welcome you on tour again!

review

Many very nice events planned for each day. Some events were to locations that were jammed with people and traffic such as Ben and Jerrys Ice Cream and were therefore not enjoyable-absolute chaos. Also some were to locations that were nothing but gift shops and jammed with tourists. The fall colors were fabulous and driving route was excellent. The tour guide was fine and had many very good explanations of information on the area. Some evenings where we were directed to go for dinner such as the first night was jammed with people and couldn't even get in most restaurants. In Boston we were not given any restaurant suggestions.

Dear Bill, We're glad you enjoyed many of the activities that make up this itinerary, as well as the beautiful fall colors of New England. We're also pleased to learn that your Tour Director provided you with great explanations of the various sites. We will be sure to share this information internally. Regarding some of the busier stops you experienced, fall is a very popular time to visit New England; therefore, some of the more touristic sites may experience higher volumes of visitors. Regarding restaurant recommendations in Boston, we are very surprised to learn that your Tour Director did not offer some suggestions, as she is regularly rated very highly among travelers. We will be sure to share this feedback with her. Again, we're glad that there were many aspects of this tour which you enjoyed, and we hope to welcome you on tour again.

Great trip

Great trip , wife booked tour I was not looking forward to it , we lived in the Smokey Mountains for 20 years , saw all the leaves I wanted to , she tells me these are different, of course she was right I should have known . Never been in the northeast before trip was perfect . The only thing we were not pleased with was the meal at the Barking Crab . Tour guide did a great job , all the stops were interesting . This was our fourth trip with Go-Ahead.

Hi Dallas! We’re thrilled to learn that New England’s fall foliage surprised you! The colors during this time are quite breathtaking, and we’re glad you and your wife could enjoy them. We appreciate your feedback on your Tour Director, as well as the itinerary. We regret that one of your meals didn’t meet your expectations, and we will be sure to share that with our Operations team for review. Thank you for choosing Go Ahead, and we hope to welcome you on tour again!

problems with tour

I had great expectations for this tour. I have been very happy with GoAhead in the past. First and foremost, this intimate tour of 35 or so turned into two buses of 73. Because this area is already popular in October the tour meant waiting in line everywhere we went. It just wasn't right that you had that many people on the same tour with the same objectives. The beauty of the area cannot be denied but that was it. As for the itinerary it was ok. But I think the brewery should be optional and time in a location should be increased. The optional lobster lunch we paid for was chopped up lobster on a roll not lobster. That should be told. The T museum had problems but that couldn't be helped. The truth is a lot of people drank too much at the brewery and others who don't drink beer were stuck there. I also think driving by the oldest cemetery in Boston was crazy. We should have had an optional tour choice for that. Driving by in a bus where the driver points out--"this is where John Hancock is buried and Paul Revere's parents--" come on. Usually you include dinners--at least most of them. In New Hampshire finding a place to eat was a challenge--Stay at hotels where there are restaurants. Sarah Dove was knowledgeable. But she never talked or entertained when we were driving. We got handouts but that's not the same. She tr eated us like children and there was NO opportunity for 10 minutes at a gift shop. Either make the trip longer or more opportunities for free time. In Vermont there were 4 food stops in one day. Spread them out to the next morning--that was too much. On the whole I was not disappointed in the states we visited but I was disappointed in the tour. Laurene and Jim Stirone.

Dear Laurie, We regret to learn that the itinerary did not meet your expectations. We are glad you were able to speak with a member of our Quality Control team about your experience. Regarding your group size, your group was comprised of 35 people. However, there was another departure of the same tour that was running simultaneously, which is why you saw the group at different points throughout your tour. The fall is perhaps the most popular time to see New England, and the window of time for the changing colors is quite small, which is the reason multiple departures were running at the same time. That said, we will no longer run tours simultaneously next year, due to feedback we’ve received from our travelers. We appreciate your suggestion to make the brewery stop optional and to begin including a stop at the Granary Burying Ground. We will be sure to share these suggestions with our team internally. In terms of your Tour Director, we’re glad you felt that she was knowledgeable, but we regret that she didn’t quite meet your expectations. We will be sure to share this feedback with her. Thank you for providing such a constructive review. We value your feedback very much, and we hope to welcome you on tour again.

Fall Foliage Bucket List Trip

Fall Foliage Tour of New England My bucket list always included a tour of the New England states when the leaves were turning. How wonderful that I got to check this off my list in the very best way! The color was spectacular, but add that with a perfect tour director, bus driver and travelers, and you get a PERFECT experience! Alan, our TD, and Domemec, our bus driver, were so familiar with the area that they were able to add such personal touches to our itinerary. I will treasure the memories of my first domestic Go Ahead tour. Just loved it!!

Hi Jan! We’re so glad your first domestic tour with Go Ahead was a success! We’re also happy that you were able to check off an item on your bucket list. We appreciate your feedback on your Tour Director and bus driver, and we’re pleased that their personal touches added value to your experience. Great Trip

Everyone from the greetings from the hotel personnel to the bus driver helped make this trip very pleasant. Our tour director, Alan, was great and he was very patient with our group of 35. We left the hotels at a reasonable hour each morning and had plenty of free time to shop. We never felt rushed at the stops we made at the Cabot Cheese Factory, Green Mountain Coffee, and Ben and Jerry's . Loved the optional in Boston at the Boston Tea Party Museum and our lobster lunch. All in all, it was a great trip.

Hello! We’re so glad you had a great time experiencing the fall foliage of New England. We appreciate your valuable feedback, and we look forward to welcoming you on tour again in 2017!

Beautiful New England

I was very happy from the start of our trip which started by meeting Jason at the airport. He was very cordial and informative, thank you Jason. Then on to the hotel, which we had our 1st meeting with our driver, Sal. Another great person. Was very happy to have Sal involved with most of our outings. Sal's driving abilities are fantastic, he was able to put that bus on streets that most would feel uneasy. Felt very safe with Sal at the wheel, Thank you Sal. And Randy, another great person. Randy was very attentive to all who were in our group. Randy spent much one on one time with many of the travelers while including the whole of the travelers with informative information. Even tho our group was larger than most I have traveled with Randy had things very much under control. It was nice that Randy was able to slightly change things do to weather traffic or ??. Hotels very very comfortable and very convenient to all our viewing locations

Boston

Too much time was spent in Boston and we only traveled 2 hours on either side of Boston. Seems like a lot of money for not going very far.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback regarding your Classic New England: Fall Foliage Tour. Feedback from our travelers is so important to us as we continually strive to provide valuable and unique travel experiences. As such, we have made some changes to our New England tours for 2015. Next year, the Classic New England tour will include two nights in Boston and travel as far North as Burlington, VT, while the Coastal New England tour will include a total of 3 nights in Boston. We recognize that while some travelers desire more time in New England’s biggest city, others prefer the charm of some of New England’s smaller towns.

Didn't even miss the leaves!!!

Altho' we missed the final "spectacular display" of the turning of the leaves in New England by a week, we didn't even care as we learned so much and had such a good time. Our tour director was excellent. As he lives in Boston (or close to), he really knew everything about the New England area. He had searched out the best "lobstah rolls" and we descended on a wonderful little place and had the BEST ever. As I said, we learned so much...cancel everything you ever knew about Paul Revere...let the "natives" tell it best. Our additional tour guide really was a history buff and brought tears to everyone's eyes when he told us the story of the battle of Lexington and Concord and reminded us that "we are still part of that history". The coach was wonderful...plenty of legroom for my 6'3" husband. There wasn't a moment that any of us experienced any discomfort. Our hotels were wonderful...the Marriott Copley was gorgeous...but we loved the old time look and feel of the Hawthorne in Salem even more. Wish we could have spent another day there. If you want to get a good education about the area you are visiting, go with GoAhead. Learning is what it's all about for them.I think GoAhead tours are a wonderful bargain for a a prestigious tour...you get more than your money's worth. I recommend them to all my friends and to you, too!
